This is a special time in history when ubiquity of technology is so profound that we are forced to embrace it. Teachers and parents must move with the times and learn to harness all the tools available to them in order to reach digital natives in the language that they are most familiar. Teachers need to be confident and equipped to provoke these 'Generation Texters' on to become ethical and responsible users of technology and to recognize the impact their consumption makes on the environment and the social ramifications of this usage.
Together we can change the way technology is viewed in school. As we move away from isolated classes of ICT & Library studies toward authentic, contextual learning we will find the students becoming more focused, engaged and responsible digital citizens.
